The Standard Service is designed to enable single users to gain access to NHSnetwork.
An organisation can have many users connecting to their host computer systems.
When the VPN tunnel is established each user is assigned an IP address for that tunnel. The user will have been assigned an IP address when connecting to the Internet by the ISP. Once the VPN IP address has been assigned this is the one used for data communications.
When an organisation orders services for their users they are allocated a range or individual IP addresses. The user will be assigned one from this range for their VPN session.
Therefore, the organisation knows which IP addresses it should let through its firewall.
Cable & Wireless offers an Enhanced Service which can provide IT Managers with a more bespoke service. Click here.
