These
products work with the Token Only Service to enable a more bespoke
service to be created. For a full description, with diagrams,
of how these products can enhance an organisations remote access
services see the Beginners Guides and select the NHSN3 Access
option.
For
organisations that adopt the On Site VPN Concentrator solution
the User and Administrator Tokens are discounted by 17.5%. Their
net prices are shown below,
Selecting
the correct option will depend upon how many users you are connecting
and what contention ratio you wish to provide. The contention
ratio considers how many users you have against how many will
be connected at any one time. Typically this ratio will vary from
5:1 to 10:1. This means that a Nortel Contivity supporting 5 consecutive
tunnels could actually support between 25 and 50 users depending
on their working practices.
However,
Broadband Internet offers new methods of working. Home workers
can now be exactly that. They can do a full days work from home.
These people will need a tunnel each. Many other people will require
periodic access that is often random. These people will normally
be served by a contended service.
For
example:
A
Trust has 10 home workers and 50 other remote users
The home workers require a tunnel each - i.e. 10 tunnels
From their working profile you know that the 50 remote workers can be handled
with a 5:1 contention ratio - i.e. they can contend for (share) 10 tunnels.
Therefore, for this Trust to be able to satisfy its user demand it needs the
capacity for 20 consecutive tunnels.
It may be that the remote users want to connect after the home workers have
finished for the day. In this case their tunnels will be available to the
remote users.
